School Improvement Programme

“ To bring children and books together in a colorful and happy environment so that a lifelong friendship is fostered “

Working in forty Government Schools in Sheikhupura for the past one year, Alif Laila realized yet again that schools for children will not become worthy of them till the environment becomes brighter and teaching learning aids are available to satisfy the natural curiosity of the children and make the learning process an enjoyable one for them Even the teachers who are amicable to change find their hands tied when they have nothing to share with the children except their school texts.

For these very reasons Alif Laila and Save The Children UK have joined hands to provide these forty schools with some resource material, teaching/learning aids, furniture and a colorful room environment so that the teachers are enabled to som extent and the children get the oppurtunity of looking at and learning from material that is interesting and relevent . Further in addition to this we are carrying out teacher training in the local context so that the teachers are able to use the supplies in the most effective manner.

The Story Teller visits 40 Government Schools in Sheikhupura, impacting 4000-4500 children. Each school is visited once a month.

Apart from this project Alif Laila has over the years produced a lot of teaching aids as well as carried out many teacher training workshops. To find out what workshops are being carried out these days and to register for them call: Natasha Jafri 042-575-8395.
