Alif Laila has always been active in spreading awareness about key

issues such as Child Rights, the conservation of the environment, and

good governance.

Listed below are short summaries of some of the advocacy campaigns

that we have carried out.

Creating Awareness of the Fundamental Rights of the Child

Under this programme, Alif Laila advocates the basic rights of all children, primarily their right to acquire quality education. Our organization participates in peaceful rallies in support of these essential rights of children.

At Alif Laila we believe that education must attend to at least three most important aspects of development in order to be meaningful; it must create motivation to imbibe nobler values and a more civilized mode of conduct amongst children; it should enable them to practically apply their knowledge and to discover their innate creativity and finally; to equip them with the confidence to utilize their hidden talents.

Stress is laid on girl’s education as female education is a neglected area in our society. Children are also encouraged to enhance their inventiveness through artwork and creative writing. Environmental awareness workshops are also held for children frequently.

Conserving the Environment

Alif Laila entered into a collaborative project with Tetra Pak Limited in 2003 as part of their” Proud Pakistanis Recycle” campaign. Recycling slogans were painted on the Alif Laila Bus which is used to transport children to and from schools. An audio cd “Dabloo Ki Kahni” was produced to create awareness among children about garbage segregation and recycling.

We enthusiastically joined the following events;

· World Environment Day

· World Literacy Day

· Milk Day

· OISCA (Plant and Environment)

Conserve Our Herbs

Alif Laila is presently also doing a project with IPRP wherein we have developed for the northern areas , 15 posters, a comic book, an activity book and a board game to spread awareness about the indigenous herbs of that area. These materials are targeted towards school going as well as non school going children, while the posters have been designed to catch the attention of the adults as well. We have also developed a teaching manual that will help facilitators in that area use the materials to their maximum potential.

Make Your Vote Count!

 Alif Laila recently developed a series of posters highlighting the value of Good Governance in collaboration with the local government. These posters were highly appreciated both with the public as within the government.
